I'm focusing on questions in neuroscience that can be answered only by having precise wiring diagrams. To get these diagrams I am working on new ways (algorithms) to extract and study neuron wiring diagrams from volume electron microscopy. I've applied my work to several questions on the nervous systems of vertebrates and invertebrates: the development of the wiring diagram between lower motor neurons and muscle fibers (muscle connectomes), the network of learning and memory in the octopus vulgaris vertical lobe and to the maturation of connectomes in c. elegans.
